Starting My Hair Regrowth Journey: Facing Hair Loss Head-On
Losing your hair is something you never really expect to happen—until it does. This past Sunday, I had a wake-up call that left me feeling heartbroken and overwhelmed. I looked at the top of my head and realized just how much hair I had lost. My scalp was more visible than ever before, and I felt sick to my stomach.
I had noticed increased shedding for a while, but I kept telling myself it was temporary. However, seeing the actual thinning and loss of density made it impossible to ignore. Now, I’m diving headfirst into my hair regrowth journey, determined to do everything I can to restore my hair’s health.
Processing the Emotional Side of Hair Loss
I won’t sugarcoat it—this has been an emotional rollercoaster. Discovering hair loss is deeply personal, and it hits differently when it happens to you. There’s a mix of shock, sadness, frustration, and even fear—fear of losing more, fear of not being able to regrow what’s lost, and fear of not feeling like yourself.
Right now, I’m allowing myself to feel those emotions while also shifting my focus to what I can control. I know this journey won’t be easy, but I’m ready to fight for my hair and my confidence.
My First Steps Toward Regrowth
Since I’m just starting out, I’m putting together a game plan that I hope will help encourage new growth and strengthen the hair I still have. Here’s what I’m committing to:
1. Supporting My Hair from the Inside Out
- Starting collagen supplements to support hair growth and strength
- Adding Hair, Skin & Nails vitamins for essential nutrients
- Focusing on protein-rich foods to nourish my body and hair follicles
2. Establishing a Hair-Friendly Routine
- Using Hers Minoxidil 2% Regrowth Serum to stimulate hair growth
- Switching to a regrowth-focused shampoo & conditioner to cleanse gently
- Prioritizing scalp health with regular scalp massages for better circulation
3. Preventing Further Hair Loss
- Avoiding tight ponytails and hairstyles that add tension
- Sleeping in a silk sleep cap to reduce breakage
- Cutting back on heat styling to prevent additional stress on my strands
Taking It One Day at a Time
Right now, I don’t have all the answers. I don’t know how long it will take for my hair to regrow, or if I’ll ever get back my full volume. But what I do know is that I’m not giving up.
If you’re experiencing hair loss too, just know you’re not alone. It’s okay to grieve, to feel frustrated, and to seek answers. I’ll be sharing my journey as I go, and if you ever need support, I’m here to talk.
I’m hopeful that with patience, consistency, and care, I’ll start to see positive changes. For now, it’s all about taking it one step at a time.
💛 Heather
