Back to the Grind

So today was my first day back at work, and boy was it a busy day.  Thanks to Jen (my sister) for coming in and helping me.  We groomed 7 Shih Tzu's, Bathed and Tidy on 1, and 1 show shih tzu bath/brushout....then I fed and changed pads on the shop dogs.  I am very proud of myself as I killed a HUGE (50cent piece sized) wolf spider today.....crushed it with a dog food bowl lol!  A Magical Fairy delivered some awesome stuff for me at work today......A Groomers Helper (have been wanting one forever), which is basically a 'safety' tether that keeps dogs from walking/wandering all over the table, and saved me from getting bit today when I was trimming nails....woot woot!  Then Jen got a free pair stainless steel comb blades for the cordless clippers, she already had some so she gave them to me....AWESOME!  The cordless clippers can get in legs and such much easier, so it's going to make grooming that much easier.  So today went very well, no panicking because there were so many dogs, no freaking out about rushing to get everyone done, just took it nice and easy, and still finished by about 3:15pm.  It feels great to be back at work, I missed it immensely.....now about 6 weeks ago or so I wouldn't have said that as I was very unhappy in my job.  I would get panic attacks and physically ill just going to work, which probably added to my whole event.  Just glad to be out of that place and in a job I absolutely love to pieces.

I have to say to all my readers....thank-you for reading and taking time out of your busy day/schedules to read my blog.  It helps me knowing that I may be giving someone the courage to get help, or maybe educating you on more on Bipolar Depression.

So there are a few things that I have learned on my own and with the help of my Dr. about helping Bipolar disorder.

1-  Increase Omega Fatty Acids:  My Dr suggests EPA/DHA of at least 2000, that's not just the Fish Oil mg, that's JUST the EPA.....yeah my current Fish Oil is 440 per 2 capsules......which means I need at least 8-10 of those per day.....needless to say when I run out I am getting higher EPA as it's a pain to swallow that many capsules.

2-  Vitamin D Deficiency can add/cause depression......3 years ago I was at 21 my Dr wants me at 80....my last test was at 41...when I wasn't taking my Vit D pills regularly.  http://www.foodforthebrain.org/content.asp?id_Content=488&id_QuestionAnswerStep=3&id_QuestionAnswer=670

3-  Magnesium it's recommended to take 400mg per day if you are Bipolar/Depressed.  My Dr put me on it in place of Calcium.

4-  Avoid Caffeine, Sugar, Grains....these are all recommneded for me to avoid by my Dr.  He is VERY against soda, and caffeine.  I have cut back immensely on my Diet Coke intake, which is probably why I am feeling so good.

5-  L-Theanine helps with Dopamine Levels.

6-  I am learning more about how amino acids in the brain affect bipolar.  Right now I am taking a supplement called Neuroreplete....it is about $80 per month, but IMHO it is WELL worth the price.  I wasn't on any meds until Friday the week I had my event, and picked up Neuroreplete on Tuesday and started it then....I was feeling pretty good with just the Neuroreplete.  I have read where some people have been able to go off their meds....not to that point but maybe one day...we shall see.

Here's a little bit on Amino Acids:
Seratonin is made from amino acids. If you can increase your amino acid intake, you body has the building blocks to produce more seratonin. When we have the seratonin we need, things like depression, compulsions, etc, decrease or go away altogether.

Here are a couple of websites you can learn more about it.  http://www.neuroassist.com/

Just wanted to share a little bit of what I have learned.

Who Are you?

Sunday stealing  Who Are you? Part 7 – It is Over!  Part 7: Self Image 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you:   I wake up at 6:00am, take a shower, get ready for the day, then I go downstairs and feed the critters, and make breakfast for hubby and I.  We usually leave the house by about 7:30ish and I drop my husband off at work.  Then I work (I'm a Pet Groomer) until about 3:30 or 4:00ish then I leave for home and go get my hubby from work.  Then I come home and make dinner, feed the critters, work on cleaning the house a little and we usually head to bed about 8:30ish or 9:00. 85.
