The Right Tools

So today I was thinking about having the right tools for my job (I'm a pet groomer) and I don't know how I ever groomed for so long without my groomers helper.  It saved me again from getting bit by 2 Lhasa Apsos today (Lhasa's are known for their stubbornness and dislike of grooming).  It is so helpful.  It got me to thinking about how I need to have the right tools to control my disease.  I have all (okay most) of the right tools for my career such as clippers, blades, scissors, combs etc, why not make sure I have all the right tools for my condition?

Here are my list of tools:
1-  Supplements (Neuroreplete, L-Theanine, L-Methionine, Lithium & Trace Minerals).  Why am I putting these as my #1 tool?  Because I honestly believe they are making the biggest difference.

2-  Medications (Zydas Zyprexa, Wellbutrin--weaning off, Seroquel and Trazadone), yep I'm on the big guns right now, but I visit with my shrink next week so we shall see where we will go from here.  I do think the Zyprexa is helping.  Haven't been overly moody, although was yesterday, even had a break down and cried because I hurt Rob's feelings by interrupting him when he was talking (a severely bad habit I need to break)

3-  Counseling (I am seeing a Counselor as well as a Psychiatrist), it is important to change my mindset as well as get counseling for everything I have been through.  I consider it much like taking your car in to get it's oil changed on a regular basis.  The counselor I see does the CBT therapy which I think is awesome.  She even gives homework assignments which I think is great.

4-  Support --This is huge, I have my husband and my family who are very supportive of what I am going through and Rob has been amazing in dealing with everything.  I still feel so horrible about everything I have put Rob through.

5-  A Willing Mind --again another biggie, if you aren't willing to get help or change your ways/habits etc what point is it?

6-  Coping Skills, exercise, being spiritual (i.e. connecting with nature, animals, something that you enjoy doing) for me right now it is jewelry making I love it and it really helps me focus on me.

7-  Education:  Staying informed on the latest things, also learning how to better manage my disease.  I have books, self help apps on my phone and tablet, audios etc.

What other things can you think of that should be in my 'tool kit' as I fight this disease?  I'd love to hear it.

Trying another new thing called Saturday 9, it can be found here:  http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com 1) Do you come up with your brightest ideas early in the morning or late at night?   I would say that I am most creative later in the evenings 2) Are you more likely to feel romantic at night or in the morning?  Depends on the day :-), but usually at night 3) Do you shower in the morning, after work or before bed?   I shower in the mornings, it helps wake me up 4) Billie Holiday was just 44 when she died. Is there an artist whose early demise surprised and saddened you?   Not an artist but Heath Ledger's death really shocked me and took me by surprise.  He is one of my all time favorite actors. 5) Billie was known as "Lady Day." Do you have a cool nickname? (If not, feel free to give yourself one right now.)   No cool nicknames, as a kid I was "Woodie or Fruitcake".....don't ask LOL 6) When was the last time you had the blues?   ...

Who Are you?

Sunday stealing  Who Are you? Part 7 – It is Over!  Part 7: Self Image 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you:   I wake up at 6:00am, take a shower, get ready for the day, then I go downstairs and feed the critters, and make breakfast for hubby and I.  We usually leave the house by about 7:30ish and I drop my husband off at work.  Then I work (I'm a Pet Groomer) until about 3:30 or 4:00ish then I leave for home and go get my hubby from work.  Then I come home and make dinner, feed the critters, work on cleaning the house a little and we usually head to bed about 8:30ish or 9:00. 85. What is your greatest strength as a person?   I am a very compassionate and have a big heart 86. What is your greatest weakness?   Interrupting people when they are talking 87.
